Organic Cotton

Our 100% Organic Cotton range certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard.

We have been consuming Organic fruits, veggies and grains and the health benefits of this lifestyle are everywhere. If we are avoiding putting these pesticides in our body, why shouldn’t we also avoid sleeping with them?

You spend a third of your life between the sheets, why not make sure it’s the best it can be.

Organic cotton is grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides, therefore helping to improve the quality of the land, prevent water contamination, and conserve biodiversity. The use of Organic Cotton allows for better health for not only the end user, but also for the farmers and their families.

Its end result is a more breathable, stronger and softer product.

The process being Organic starts at the harvest. Organic Cotton uses non genetically modified plants or seeds, that also haven’t used any synthetic agricultural chemicals such as pesticides. Before a certified organic crop can be planted, the field must go through a cleansing period of three years to be sure that the soil is free from any chemicals. Since the farmer isn’t allowed to use any chemicals to encourage growth in the cotton plants, the growers must implement practices to support natural biodiversity.

Organic Cotton farms are better for our environment as they are preserving the surface and groundwater quality. therefore helping to improve the quality of the land, prevent water contamination, and conserve biodiversity.

A conventional cotton harvest is picked by machine and goes through a harsh chemical treatment to separate the cotton from the storks and the seeds.  Organic Cotton is picked by hand so it doesn’t need to go through this process. The fibers are also left stronger and softer because they are not broken down with these harsh chemicals. Our Egyptian Cotton range is also picked by hand.

The largest producers of Organic Cotton are Turkey, India and China. The Organic Cotton that we use is grown in China.

A bit more about the Global Organic Textile Standard...

The aim of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is to define requirements to ensure organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labelling in order to provide a credible assurance to the end consumer.

GOTS is recognised as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well.
