The lowdown on Linen

Just like coffee beans, which need a particular climate to grow, the Flax Linen plant is only grown in regions of Europe from France through the Netherlands. We make our sheets from the finest French Flax which we ensure is certified to the source.

One of the best things about Linen is that you can actually see the fibres in its beautiful open weave. We operate our linen weaving machines around 5 times slower than our cotton machines to preserve the natural strength in these yarns so they go through as little processing as possible.

Our Linen sheets come pre-washed for extra softness, which also means you're ready to jump right into bed with them as soon as they arrive.

Many who have made the upgrade from Cotton sheets to Linen have told us 'once you go linen, you'll never go back', but what is actually so good about Linen sheets? We've uncovered the key features below...

The Great Thread Count Debate...

There is so much information out there about what are ‘the best’ sheets to buy. There are many myths and misconceptions regarding thread counts and fabrics.

We've done the hard yards for you, researching and experimenting to find you the highest quality fibres and weaves to give you the best sleep of your life.

All you have to do is choose your favourite colour.

LINEN IS FOR LIFE

Linen is the strongest natural fibre in the world and is 30% thicker and stronger than cotton, which makes it super durable and long wearing. This natural durability makes linen a smart investment for a long time relationship.

SUSTAINABLE & ECO-FRIENDLY

Linen is made from one of the greenest fabrics around, the Flax Plant. This resilient plant can flourish in almost any environment and requires much less water than Cotton. Less chemicals are required to treat the fibres and its completely bio-degradable for when the time comes to say goodbye.

COMFORT ALL YEAR ROUND

Linen is a highly breathable and heat-conductive fabric. In the cooler months the Linen retains heat from your body to keep you nice and warm. During the summer, the natural properties of the hollow flax fibres allow the air to circulate freely which helps to cool you off.

EASY TO CARE FOR

Linen has a distinct ‘lived in’ crinkled look which makes it so easy to care for. The porous fabric is easily cleaned, dried then thrown back on the bed for another round. The more you wash & use your Linen sheets, the softer they become.

NATURALLY FREE FROM NASTIES

The linen fibres wick moisture and dry out much faster than cotton which is the best benefit of it’s natural antibacterial properties. Because it doesn't let bacteria build up, Linen is perfect for people who suffer from allergies and restless nights.

LETS TALK LINEN

NATURALLY, COTTON

Cotton is naturally hypoallergenic, odor-resistant and does not go through any harsh chemical treatments. Cotton fibres are really easy to maintain, breathable yet absorbant and soft yet durable.

Like a nice wine, Cotton fibres soften wash after wash so they get even better with age (but really, we've never been able to keep wine around long enough to compare!)

YARN REALLY COUNTS

The cotton plants we use produce a 'Long Staple Cotton' which is more commonly known as an Egyptian Cotton. These plants give us longer more luxurious yarns than a standard cotton plant.

Since these longer strands are easier to weave, it produces a much softer texture and is less scratchy and won't pill like cheaper quality sheets.

The end result is a more fine, smoother and durable fabric which will mean our sheets will feel better and last longer.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

Most high thread count fabrics use short yarns that have been spun together to increase the thread count.

The common understanding of thread count is the higher the better, but actually a high thread count can be a dead giveaway of a lower quality fabric because of the poor quality yarns that have been used to keep the thread count high.

The finished fabric of our Long Staple Weave is more porous, therefore more air can pass through which avoids that stuffy feeling at night. Our Long Staple Yarns a 400 thread count is the perfect weave for our fabric to perform at its best.

SATEEN WEAVE

Our fabrics have been woven together using a luxurious Sateen weave.

In a Sateen Weave the yarns are woven toegther by passing over three times, then under once allowing more flat yarn surface area. This results in more surface area of flat yarns which is super soft to touch.

Our Sateen weave carries a slight sheen which perfectly compliments the unique colours in our range.
