How to choose the perfect sheet colour

Considering you spend a third of your life in bed it’s important to make your bedroom a place that reflects your personal style and a place you love being in. One simple way to do that is to have the perfect colour sheet for your bed. With such a wide range of colours to choose from it can be overwhelming so here are a few tips to make the decision a little easier.

What you wear

The main way you show personal styles is through what you wear on a day to day basis. Take a good look at your clothes and match your bedroom to that. Are you a Denim person? Then choose Blues and Washed Cotton. All black wardrobe? Extend your day wear into the evening. Like fun prints? Play around with different prints on your quilt like our Terrazzo tile Inspired Limited Edition print Rosetta.

Existing Furnishings

Chances are you might already have existing fun furnishings and colour palettes in your house. If your walls are painted a fun colour choose an opposite colour to contrast it or a similar tone to compliment. Black is known for clarifying and enhancing or iif you're finding colours overwhelming consider a neutral. Grey is considered a chameleon colour as it pairs back with everything.

Our Charcoal sheets are the perfect dark shade of grey to go with anything. Check them out here.

Skin Tone

There are certain times when you want to look your best in bed ;) The best way to do that is to choose a colour based on your skin tone. Are you warm or cool? An easy way to tell is by looking at your wrists, if your veins are blue you are Cool and if your veins are green you are Warm.

Cool Palettes should opt for purples, blues, and darker pinks like Lilac, Powder Blue and Rose.

Warm Palettes can go more pale colours, dusty greens and brown tones like Blush, Moss and Terracotta.

Size and Lighting

Look at the size and lighting in your room. If you have a dark or small room you can brighten it or make it seem bigger by choosing furnishings and colours that are lighter such as White. Go the opposite if your room is already bright and choose darker colours to tone it down.

Mood Sought

Still feeling a bit overwhelmed? Another way to choose your sheet colour is the mood you desire to feel. Different colours encourage various moods. Warm colours are known for enhancing confidence and creating excitement. For a more relaxed and calming mood choose cool colours. Whereas neutral colours are soothing, peaceful and easy going.

By thinking about these few things when considering your sheet colour you'll find the perfect set to suit you and your bedroom. Afterall, your bedroom should be your favourite place to be!
